25 Pieces - 04 The Concorde Bag
Richard James

The fourth of the twenty-five pieces that have set Richard James apart. Taken from the new, in-store and online now, Richard James book.

The dimensions of Concorde’s testingly compact overhead locker were taken with a tailor’s measuring tape on a trip to a Bespoke customer in New York in 1997. Oh, to have a bag, as accommodating as possible, that would fit perfectly inside it. And so the Concorde Carry-On, loosely based on an old British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) design from the 1960s, came to be. Made in the UK, it was available in black and blue nylon with lime green or fluorescent pink lining to make it easier to find those important little things (passport, paperback, ‘phone, sunglasses, earphones… ) that tend to disappear in the dark recesses of such bags. A limited edition went on sale in the Savile Row store and flew out of the door.
