Sheep Art

Here’s our contribution to Sheep Art, Woolmark’s  artfully conceived social auction in aid of the British Fashion Council Education Foundation, which coincides with next week’s London Collections: Men.

The other participants are Christopher Raeburn, Lou Dalton, SIBLING, Paul Smith, Timothy Everest and, not least, British GQ Editor-in-Chief and LC:M chairman Dylan Jones. And, save for Mr Jones, the inspiration behind each participant’s piece of Sheep Art is Cool Wool and their SS15 collection, which all will be showcasing at LC:M. See each piece of Sheep Art here.

“Ours is a well-camouflaged Merino sheep!” explains Richard. “Our SS15 collection contemplates the irresistible, all-engulfing infinity of the Sahara desert in the company of the Desert Rats, a legendary troop of men that effortlessly embodied those fine, defining British qualities of derring-do and dogged determination in the face of the most trying circumstances. And as you’d expect with a collection that takes inspiration from a band of Brits who knew better then most how to keep cool in the heat of the moment, Cool Wool is an essential part of it.”

Cool Wool is a lightweight Merino wool fabric with a maximum weight of just 190 g/m² that will feature strongly in our collection. Light, unbeatably comfortable and remaining relatively crease free, it has long been a favoured suiting of ours.

To win the piece of Sheep Art of your choice, simply visit Woolmark on facebook or Twitter and like or follow. Then either like the promotional post on facebook or tweet or retweet your favourite Sheep Art using #coolwool. The winner will be the person who gets the highest number of likes, retweets and favourites.

Entries to be submitted between 14.00 GMT on 13th June 2014 and 23.00 GMT on 20th June 2014. Entries made outside this promotional period will not be accepted.

All valid entries received during the promotional perios will be entered into a random prize draw within three working days of the closing date. Upon acceptance of the prize the winner will be announced on the Woolmark Company’s facebook and Twitter pages.

Esquire UK’s Object of Desire No. 26: Cool Wool jacket by Richard James

Like Esquire UK says, wool isn’t something you’d readily associate with your average summer wardrobe.

But this Spring/Summer ’14 jacket – Object of Desire No. 26 in the at-the-newsstands-now August issue of Esquire UK – isn’t made of your average wool, but Cool Wool, the finest, lightest, coolest, all-natural, wholly sustainable fabric you can put on your back when the mercury is rising.

“Ten years ago a wool suit was heavy and now it is the lightest thing in the world,” says Richard, exaggerating only slightly, but explaining the jacket’s airborne appearance in the above picture. “Innovation of wool is not over yet. It will still be surprising us in another 10 years.”

Available as the top half of a Savile Row suit (below, as seen in our S’S’14 LC:M show) from the Savile Row shop and stockists from January 2014.
