You And Your Richard James

More of you looking the part in your Richard James on Instagram.

A bit of a North American feel to proceedings this time around with Andy Halseth (@oxfordandocean) of Venice, California striking a fine pose in one of our suits and Anne-Marie Elvin (@amo_elves)  putting up a picture taken in Troy, Ohio of a handsome friend in a perfectly summery pink Richard James jacket. And then, moving back to old London town, we have a very familiar looking Dame (@damienordame) wearing a double-breasted Prince of Wales check Richard James suit very well indeed.

Why not send us a picture of you and your Richard James or, better still, put one on Instagram?

Three natty men, each wearing Richard James in their own inimitable way.

Firstly (top), we have @d_dinggg‘s husband-to-be looking good in a classic black shawl collar evening suit, which she captioned on Instagram “perfect” for their wedding.

Then (middle), we’ve got the accurately monikered @tajhayer of The Rakish Gent ready to take on London Fashion Week Men’s in our SS17 emerald green linen bomber jacket.

And finally (bottom), another fine photo from Twitter of our friend @UncleMitchNYC feeling (and looking) “amazing” in his Prince of Wales check Richard James suit.

Do send us photos of you wearing your Richard James or, even better, put them on Instagram!

A You and Your Richard James Instagram special.

From top to bottom, we have @dave_sargeant bringing (very successfully, we think) Savile Row to Brooklyn, a familiar looking @damienordame pronouncing himself lean AF and @teovandenbroeke, the Style Editor of British Esquire, going back to work in his baby blue, ultra-breathable blazer.

Do feel free to send us pictures of you in your Richard James. Or, better still, put them on Instagram.

Here, wearing it all very well, we have our friend and customer Saqib Sheikh of London.

“I travel often for work and pleasure and always find that Richard James pieces are very versatile,” says Saqib. “I can wear them for casual dinners with friends and to more important business meetings. I am involved in the property development business and am a huge health and fitness lover. And I talk about all things to do with men’s style, lifestyle and health and fitness on my YouTube channel The Saqib Sheikh.”

“I had always had trouble finding blazers and jackets that fit me well as I am tall with long arms and I like to workout. Richard James fits me very well and when I’m abroad putting on your clothing also gives me a nice sense of home in London and comfort. It brings back memories of Savile Row and the sophisticated gentlemen of London.”

We’re very pleased to hear that, Saqib.

Do feel free to send us pictures of you and your Richard James.

More of you in your Richard James.

This time around it’s Johnny Luk, CEO of the sterling organisation NACUE.

Here we see Johnny looking spruce in his blue sharkskin Hyde suit, one of a handful of Richard James suits he prefers to wear when going about his business.

Do feel free to send us pictures of you in your Richard James.

Here’s our favourite, ever dapper New York Criminal Defence Attorney Mitch Salaway in the course of defending a burglary case.

The game plan, he tells us, is to “distract the jury with Richard James suit, shirt and tie.”

But will it work?

“Looking good always distracts from that damning evidence.”

Do feel free to send us pictures of you in your Richard James.

You And Your Richard James – in Antarctica

More You And Your Richard James. And this one is going to take some beating.

Dr James Townsend tweets a picture of himself (above) wearing his dark grey made-to-measure Richard James three-piece at the British Antarctic Survey base Halley VI in Antarctica. “Gale force winds and -40 at #midwinter in #Antarctica is no reason not to dress well… thanks to @RichardJamesRow.” Quite so.

James, who worked in A&E in London previous to finding his current billet, arrived at Halley VI (“It’s the sixth base to be built here since 1956. They have a habit of being buried by snow…”) on Christmas Day 2012 by way of the RRS (Royal Research Ship) Ernest Shackleton. And he’ll remain there until December of this year when he will begin to wind his way home via some smaller Antarctic bases, arriving back in Blighty in April of next year.

Halley VI is a research station that monitors ozone reduction, atmospheric pollution, sea level rise and climate change; it was here that that the ozone hole was discovered in 1985. And lying within the auroral zone (see a little of the spectacular aurora in the bottom picture), it’s also ideally situated for geospace research and, at almost 76 degrees South, is the remotest British presence anywhere in the world. Says James, the base’s medical officer: “It makes my role a little unnerving at times, as over winter – now – when it’s permanently dark and the temperature goes down to -50˚C with hurricane strength winds, the apocryphal story tells us it’s harder to get someone out of here than back from the International Space Station!”

The station has a staff of thirteen in winter, which lasts from March until November, and sixty or so during the short summer.

So what, exactly, was the draw? “It’s Antarctica! The enigmatic, romantic, remote and simply indefinable white continent that everyone sees on the bottom of a map or globe, but that no-one really knows and rarely gets the chance to go to, let alone spend a whole year on! I saw a chance, went for it and got it! Couldn’t resist!”

And how come you need a suit down there? “Well, we have a few celebrations down here. Christmas and New Year, of course. And this year we had the official base opening in February. And then there’s Midwinter’s, which we’re having now, which is basically our Christmas. Real Christmas is always white and cold, so we have a week off now and eat, drink and make merry!  And as coming down here was going to be a one-off, I wanted a one-off Savile Row suit! So I came to you for a three-piece that would stand up well to a howling gale at -40˚C! It also makes a refreshing an elegant change from the bright orange thermal boiler suits and jackets we usually wear!”

Keep up with James’s progress with his fascinating 103 Days of Darkness tumblr diary and by following AntarcticDoc on Twitter.

Mitch Salaway Esq. wears Richard James

You and your Richard James.

First up (above) it’s more of our favourite New York Criminal Defence Attorney Mitch Salaway and, as he says, he’s ready to battle the District Attorney in a Richard James suit and tie.

And then, below, we have nicely coordinated Livy Kennaway and David Sargeant. “Thank you for sending me the best suited and booted man at the ball,” says Livy. Our pleasure, Livy.

And, finally , it’s Richard Shelton from Marlow, Bucks in a nice blue two-button two-piece. One good reason why Richard likes his suit – his first Richard James purchase – is because, with his middle name being James, it has his name on the label! Richard is wearing this suit to three weddings this Spring and is coming in to the Bespoke shop shortly to see us about having something made for his own wedding in October.
